Tanalising as a process involves the presure treatment of timber to preserve it.

Tanalising was the original description, but this process contained some chemicals and agents not now allowed in the timber processing industry.

The modern replacement for Tanalising is now called OSMOSE, details can be seen from the pdf link below.
